Most clients run a fixed daily route: pickups at physician offices and draw stations between 3 and 6 p.m., delivered to the lab by 7 p.m. for evening processing. Twice-daily and hourly loops are available for high-volume sites. Windows are agreed in writing and we report on-time percentage monthly.
When a result cannot wait for the route, dispatch sends the nearest driver directly. Typical STAT turnaround from call to lab door is 60 to 90 minutes inside Middlesex, Union, and Somerset counties. Longer runs to Trenton, Cherry Hill, or Philadelphia are quoted on the call.
Refrigerated specimens travel in validated coolers with conditioned gel packs, held at 2 to 8 °C. Frozen specimens ride in dry-ice shippers. Ambient specimens ride in insulated carriers so summer heat in a parked car never touches them. Drivers record temperature at pickup and delivery.
Each container is scanned at pickup and delivery. The record shows who released it, who received it, when, and where. For forensic toxicology or legal specimens we use tamper-evident seals and a paper custody form in addition to the electronic log.
No. Specimens must be in a sealed primary container inside a biohazard bag with absorbent. Our driver will not repackage. We can supply bags and rigid carriers to your site at no charge.
Dispatch confirms receiving hours before the run. If a site is unexpectedly closed, the driver calls dispatch, dispatch calls your contact, and the specimen stays in the temperature-controlled carrier until we reach an agreed alternate drop or a secure lockbox.
Yes. Inter-facility shuttles between campuses are a common route type, especially for blood bank products and pathology.
Two to five business days for a new daily route. Same-week changes to an existing route are usually fine with a day's notice.
